Former Minister of Planning, Development & Reforms Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal

The CPEC is not a game changer, but a 'fate-changer' for the entire country in terms of economic development. CPEC is a flagship role model project for 'The Road and the Belt'” initiatives of China and now its implementation is entering into a new dynamic phase, where enhanced economic and commercial cooperation has become the center of our agenda. The collaboration is a fusion of multiple developments in the global, regional, bilateral, and domestic contexts. The ultimate objective of which is peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of the two countries, the region, and the world.

CPEC would connect the nodes of growth centers. Significant nodes along the corridor would be Kashgar, Taxkorgan, Khunjerab, Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Sukkur, Quetta, Karachi and Gwadar, and such other nodes/growth centers which may fall within the CPEC in future. It will also be connected with trade facilitation corridors, dedicated freight corridors, energy corridors, trade logistics corridor, and telecommunication corridors in other parts of the two countries.

Through CPEC the economic dimension of this relationship has expanded to elevate the Pakistan-China relationship to the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, enriching the Pakistan-China Community of Shared Destiny, to ensure the perpetual continuity in our friendship from generation to generation. The commercial and industrial aspect of this relationship shall ensure all this and lead to peace, prosperity and development.
