Azerbaijan wants to invest in KP in backdrop of CPEC projects

As the projects of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) mature, Azerbaijan has conveyed its interest in investing in Pakistan's KP province. The Ambassador of Azerbaijan met with the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and expressed the desire of his country's entrepreneurs to invest in the areas of tourism, energy, industry, construction, production, procurement, and engineering master-planning. The CM assured investor-friendly policies and environment in the province, and laid light on the high investment returns in the prosperous region.

Peshawar May 18: The Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Ali Alizada called on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar on Wednesday.

He besides discussing other matters of mutual interest, expressed the desire of his government and entrepreneurs from Azerbaijan to invest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in backdrop of Beijing Road Show under KP China Investment Plan (KPCIP) and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

Secretary Planning & Development Syed Shahab Ali Shah, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Muhammad Israr and other concerned authorities were also present on the occasion while Ali Alizada was also accompanied by Deputy Head of Mission from the Azerbaijan embassy Chingiz Garibli.

Alizada specially mentioned the areas of expertise of his country in tourism, energy, industry, construction, production, procurement, engineering master-planning and other sectors. He told the Chief Minister KP that his country fully supported Pakistan on a number of global issues including the issue of Kashmir.

He said the government and people of Azerbaijan were of the firm view that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was closer than Islamabad and rest of Pakistan. Similarly, both the people had a number of common values of religion, ethnicity, culture and history.

Speaking on the occasion, Pervez Khattak said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is open for investment. Investors from around the globe could invest their capitals with guarantee and security of both the investors and investment over here, he added.

He said special police force of 4000 Jawans was being set up to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the purpose. He welcomed the investment offers and the keen interest of Azerbaijan government and investors to bring mass scale investment in this province.

He also thanked the Azer government and investors for their confidence and showing satisfaction on steps of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for maintaining peace and creating congenial atmosphere of trade and industry in the province.

He termed it a good omen that influx of investors has been started in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that was otherwise considered unfeasible for industrialization due to ill conceived policies of the past government.
Chief Minister said the relations between people of Azerbaijan and Pakistan date back to centuries. We not only have brotherly ties based on faith and ethnicity but also we have strong cultural and historic ties.

Pervez Khattak appreciated that Azerbaijan has the largest natural resources, hydropower, gold and gas deposits in the world. He said that KP province is also blessed with huge untapped potential of tourism, hydel, oil & gas, mines & minerals sectors and the provincial government has a robust plan to capitalize upon these sectors through increased investment.
