A thematic briefing session on the 19th National Congress of Communist Party of China (CPC) was arranged in Islamabad on 11th December, 2017 by the Pakistan-China Institute and the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan. Presided by His Excellency, Mr. Wang Yajun, Assistant Minister of International Department of CPC, the briefing was led by Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed. It delved into the changes during 19th National Congress of CPC, and its effect on Pakistan and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
While speaking as the honorary guest, Deputy Chairman Senate, Mr. Molana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, assured Chinese representatives that all institutions of Pakistan are on one platform to materialize CPEC projects.
The newly designated Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Yao Jing said that CPEC is a tool to engage people of both countries for mutual development and the project is a great priority for Chinese leadership.
While speaking as the Chief Guest, Mr. Wang Yajun, thanked the public for their keen interest in 19th National Congress of CPC. Mr. Wang said the Congress was covered by more than 3000 journalists. He said that they have received more than 135,000,000 congratulations from over 170 countries, on the success of 19th National Congress. Mr. Yajun told the audience that the congress was critically important for leaders of the world to understand China. He further added that congress was attended by more than 6000 delegates and around 300 political parties from 130 countries participated. Participation from around the world shows that he international community is paying heed to the Chinese Congress.
Mr. Wang pointed out major achievements accomplished by the congress, most significant of which is reaffirmed position of Chinese President Xi Jinping as leader of entire CPC. Since 18th National Congress, President Xi Jinping has pursued socialism with extraordinary competency and outstanding leadership. He has been designated as “the leader at core.” Mr Wang further said that Chinese socialism has entered into a new era because the citizens are no more contented with simplistic life and the CPC has rolled out policy to cater to uneven development. China is also concerned about ecological issues of the world. Commenting on CPEC, Mr. Wang said CPEC is an illustration for building and developing a world together, and has successfully solved Pakistan energy crisis. CPEC has also laid down an economic trajectory for Pakistan to achieve prosperity.
After the briefing, a question answer session was held. In conclusion, Senator Mushahid Hussain presented shields to H.E. Mr. Wang Yajun, H.E. Mr. Yao Jing and Mr. Molana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri. The event was attended by eminent parliamentarians, journalists, vice chancellors of universities, students, representatives of think-tanks and representatives of Chinese corporations.
